This directory is an A-Z of the environment providing thorough definitions and explanations of terms relevant to the environment, including deforestation and global warming. It has a comprehensive directory organized country-by-country, lists "World Heritage Sites", national nature reserves and parks, and other major environmental features. A series of maps show areas of pollution, rainforest, and other environmental features both regionally and world-wide. The book includes an extensive bibliography of relevant periodicals and a "who's who" of leading personalities actively involved in environmental organizations. The first section comprises of a series of maps, showing areas of pollution, rainforest and other environmental features, both regionally and world-wide. World maps include - climate, vegetation, population density, food potential, desertification, rainforest atmostpheric pollution and acid rain, green house effect, energy production, energy consumption, protected areas and "World Heritage Sites", fishing, marine mineral resources, marine pollution, radiation pollution from Chernobyl.
