With a user-friendly interface and 24/7 accessibility, the website enables users to explore an extensive range of e-books, journals, research databases, and library services from anywhere, anytime. It is designed to bridge the gap between traditional and digital learning by providing seamless access to knowledge and academic support.

AIOU Library Network

The Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU) has libraries in its 54 regional campuses across Pakistan. The Central Library is the focal of these libraries.

The Central Library has state of the art systems and has over 137,000 books on a variety of subjects. The inherent objective of the Library is to support the academic activities by the AIOU faculty and students. The Library also serves as an information & knowledge resource that promotes library culture by extending the access to the faculty, students and knowledge seeking people from other academic institutions and the general public.

The Library has digitized the theses by AIOU students. The database is available in the Theses Section known as AIOU Research Repository.

The Library provides attractive study and research environment. The facilities include over eighty internet-connected computers, numerous study carrels and a number of reading areas.

The Library OPAC is developed in KOHA.

Library Functions

  • To support information pursuance, study, teaching and research
  • To develop information resource and relevant technological and physical facilities to support study, teaching and research
  • To facilitate AIOU faculty in developing the distance learning study material/content
  • To develop efficient systems and procedures by implementing cutting-edge technologies and best practice and support Regional Libraries to develop on the same line.
  • To serve as a holding organization of literature produced by the Pakistani authors and also to promote library/reading culture by extending access to the individuals from outside the University.

Selective Digital Access

The Central Library offers Selective Digital Access. AIOU faculty, students, and tutors may request soft copies (not more than 30 pages) of a book available in the Library.
