It includes: definitions of terms most frequently associated with the environment; definitions of more specialist terms; descriptions of organizations, programmes, reports, policies and agreements; major world phenomena; "World Heritage Sites", national parks; man-made disasters; and endangered species. Section three features a comprehensive directory organized alphabetically by country, which lists: main governmental and non-governmental organizations, both national and international; key contact names, addresses, telephone and fax numbers, and a brief outline of the organization's activities and publications. Section four is an extensive bibliographic section which lists relevant periodicals - the title, the editor, address, date of foundation, subject and frequency of the publication. The final section is a who's who in the environment which provides biographical details on leading personalities actively involved with environmental issues, and key people who work in environmental organizations.
